Open Water Dive Certification Course

The beginner, or Open Water, certification course for SCUBA diving uses a comprehensive approach to learning, meaning you get to practice and experience first-hand all of the concepts and skills presented in the theory portion of the course. This hands-on approach ensures that you start your diving career off on the right fin.

The course is divided into three sections. The first is self-study of the theory, either digital or hardcopy. After completing the self-study portion, the instructor will hold a thorough review of that material to make sure you are comfortable. The second and third portions of the course are in-water practice with the instructor. Initial training is held in confined water like a pool or shallow pool-like conditions. Once proficient in the shallow water training, you will complete the third portion with four dives in open water, either in a lake or the ocean.
